Saflink Wins Florida Port Security Contract Award
State announces intent to award Saflink, and its partners, a contract for the Florida Seaport Gate Control System project to install TWIC-compliant infrastructure
BELLEVUE, WA – (May 25, 2005) – Saflink ® Corporation (NASDAQ: SFLK ), a leading developer, marketer, and integrator of security solutions, today announced that the State of Florida has given notice of its intent to award Saflink , and its partners, a contract for the Florida Seaport Gate Control System project to be installed at each of Florida's twelve deepwater seaports. If fully deployed under this intent to award, the aggregate revenue to Saflink could exceed a half million dollars.
Under the terms of the bid and award, up to 1,035 fixed physical access readers would be installed in the Florida deepwater port facilities. The Gate Control System would be used to manage physical access by way of access control fingerprint readers installed at gates at each facility. The Saflink devices would deliver significant flexibility and permit up to a seven layer security profile designed to manage access to restricted and secure areas within the port system. Florida evaluated Saflink, and its partners, as the highest scoring team among six vendor teams competing for the project.
Florida 's specification was developed in concert with the US Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Agency's (TSA) Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) Program. The TWIC Program provides the credential for the implementation of the Florida Uniform Port Access Credential (FUPAC).
“We are pleased with Florida 's selection of our team's solution. We believe it validates the products and expertise Saflink supplied to the TSA on Phase III of the TWIC program – at locations within and outside of Florida ,” said Glenn Argenbright, CEO of Saflink. “We expect to see additional TWIC-compliant procurements by states and local governmental bodies. We plan to pursue these opportunities aggressively.”
