Saflink Expands Authentication Framework For Microsoft Users

The increased capability of SAFsolution® Enterprise Edition 1.3 software broadens security convenience

BELLEVUE, WA – (APRIL 11, 2005) – Saflink® Corporation (NASDAQ: SFLK), a leading provider of biometric and smart card security solutions, today announced significantly expanded functionality for its flagship strong authentication security software product, SAFsolution® Enterprise Edition (SAFsolution). One of the first biometric security solutions designed and tested specifically for mid- to large-size organizations, the newest version of SAFsolution builds on Saflink’s identity assurance framework by broadening the authentication options and capability for Microsoft® Windows® Active Directory® environments.

“Successful companies, large and small, understand that today’s business currency has transitioned from bricks to bits,” said Tim Wudi, Chief Marketing Officer for Saflink. “Assets are no longer strictly tangible. The protection of confidential data, such as medical and financial information, is equally important for retaining customer trust and for keeping a customer’s business. Saflink is successfully delivering innovative solutions to manage this security evolution.”

Identity Assurance Management™ Solutions
SAFsolution provides customers with a framework for improving security and convenience while at the same time simplifying network and user administration. Whether it is used within a large global enterprise or a medium-sized business, SAFsolution lowers the costs associated with password management. Through a variety of strong authentication methods, namely biometrics and smart cards, SAFsolution boosts Windows network and workstation authentication security while enhancing ease of use. Tight integration with Active Directory makes system configuration and user profile management straightforward and efficient.

A significant addition to SAFsolution Enterprise Edition 1.3 is support for Ensure Technologies™ XyLoc™ proximity badges; providing improved flexibility, security and convenience in complex operational environments. Working in conjunction with a XyLoc-enabled system, SAFsolution workstations automatically recognize when an authorized user enters an area. The combined technology reduces logon time, which permits users to access data and applications quicker. Proximity badges also help SAFsolution workstations protect confidential data and network access when the user leaves the area. Other new functionality found in SAFsolution 1.3 includes: increased support for standards-based biometric device providers, deployment and administration upgrades, a Shared Workstation support option for multiple users in kiosk configurations, and better compatibility with Saflink’s smart card middleware products.

SAFsolution Enterprise Edition 1.3 is now available and shipping.
