User receives 'Unable to Log On' error message
Description:
This article describes an issue in SSE 1.1 that may prevent a user log on if the SSE Server machine is excluded from the Log On Access list for that user.
PRODUCTS
SAFsolution Enterprise Edition 1.1 (all service pack levels)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
ISSUE
When using the SAFsolution Enterprise Client to biometrically authenticate and log on to a machine, user receives an "Unable to Log On" error message. Password logon fails at first attempt, but may succeed on subsequent attempts.
PROBLEM
The machine hosting the SAFsolution Server has been excluded from the user's Log On access list.
RESOLUTION
Add the SAFsolution Server machine to the user's Log On access list:
1. As a domain administrator, open Active Directory User's and Computers and browse to the specific user.
2. Open the user's properties and go to the Account tab.
3. Click 'Log On To...' and under "The user can log on to:" add the name of the SAFsolution Server machine.
NOTE: If you are hosting the SAFsolution Server on a domain controller and your environment policies require that you disable log on access for users to domain controllers, you may install SAFsolution Server on a Windows 2000 member server and add that machine to the users' log on access list instead.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The way the SAFsolution Client accesses the SAFsolution Server during logon will be modified in the next release version of the product to overcome this limitation. Please contact Saflink Technical Support for more information.
