Installation Walkthrough for SSE 1.1 and 1.2
Description:
The following article outlines a basic installation flow for SSE in a single SSE Server environment.
Here is a simplified outline/walkthrough of what the installation entails for SSE 1.1 and 1.2. This covers both server and client side components. We will use default settings for all components.
I. SERVER
1. From the SAFsolution CD, run SSEdeploy.exe. This will install the Schema Modifier and Deployment Wizard. Run through the setup accepting all prompts/default options.
2. Go to Start\Programs\Saflink Corporation and select SAFsolution Deployment Wizard. This is where you create the server and client configuration files.
2(a). Select the option to configure server and accept all prompts/default options.
2(b). Select the option to configure client and accept all prompts/default options, until you are at the Server Lists screen. Under Primary Servers, type in the name of the server you will be installing SAFsolution server into and click Add. Click Next and continue with all prompts and default options.
3. Go to Start\Programs\Saflink Corporation and select the SAFsolution Active Directory Schema Modifier. You must be logged in as a schema admin for this to work properly. When prompted to start modifying, hit "Y" on your keyboard, then ENTER when it finishes.
4. From the CD, run SSEserver.exe. This will install the actual SAFsolution server. Accept all prompts and default options.
5. From the CD, run SSEadmin.exe. This will install the Admin Tools, which allows you to manage user biometric enrollment and delegation through Active Directory Users and Computers. Accept all prompts and default options. Two new tabs are added to your user properties: Biometrics and Delegates.
6. Go to Start\Programs\Saflink Corporation and select SAFsolution License Manager. Browse to Saflink Corporation\SAFsolution\Licensing and input the appropriate license key. Click Install Key to apply then close License Manager.
7. Install a Biometric Service Provider (BSP). For example, if you are using a Precise 100 Series device, the appropriate BSP will be Precise BioMatch. Browse to BSP\Precise and run the setup.exe file from the corresponding BioMatch folder. (The biometric hardware device is not required on the server. Refer to step 10 for information on BSP and device driver installation.)
II. CLIENT
8. During step 2(b), a client configuration registry file was generated. Access this file from the workstation (through a network share, or copy it into a floppy), right-click on it and select Merge. This will add the necessary entries into your workstation's registry to enable SAFsolution Enterprise mode (server authentication).
9. From the CD, run SSEclient.exe. This installs the SAFsolution client into your workstation. If you performed step 8 accordingly and your workstation is part of the correct domain, the SAFsolution client will perform authentication with the SAFsolution server. This step will require a restart.
10. Install a BSP. The following instructions apply to the Precise BioMatch Standard BSP and are included as a general reference. Please check your product documentation for specific BSP installation instructions.
Precise BioMatch Standard BSP
Driver Installation
NOTE: Your device should be disconnected from the computer during BSP installation. Once the installation finishes (or if prompted to do so during the installation), plug your device in for proper driver initialization.
- On the CD, browse to \BSP\Precise\BIOAPI & HAAPI\Precise Biometrics\Drivers
- Run the setup.exe file
- Select the appropriate device type (USB or PC Card) and click Install (accept all screen prompts)
- Once the drivers are installed, plug the device in to apply the drivers
BSP Installation
- Browse to \BSP\Precise\BIOAPI & HAAPI\Precise Biometrics\BioMatch Standard
- Run the setup.exe file
- Select "Support for Precise 100 Series" and click Install (accept all screen prompts)
The SAFsolution client installs 2 applets, which are accessible through your desktop: SAF Practice Utility and Biometric Properties. You can test your device and practice enrollments through the first one. Biometric Properties allows the user to manage his/her own enrollments, select default authentication device (if multiple BSP/devices are installed), and enable Fast Login.
Please refer to the Admin Guide for information on policy-based configuration options for SAFsolution Enterprise.
