ISSUE
You receive an error that the SAFserver service could not be started.
PROBLEM
This problem may occur if the SQL Server 2000 has been restarted in Windows Only authentication mode. The SAFserver service requires SQL Server to run in mixed mode to allow for SQL Server Authentication since it relies on the SA account to connect.
RESOLUTION
Enable mixed mode on the SQL Server 2000. To do this:
1. Go to Start\Programs\Microsoft SQL Server and select Enterprise Manager.
2. Browse to the SQL Server used by SAF2000/SAFserver
3. Right-click and select Properties
4. Go to the Security tab
5. Select 'SQL Server and Windows' for the Authentication method
6. Click OK and OK again when prompted to restart the SQL Server
After the SQL Server has been restarted, you will need to manually restart the SAFserver service.
1. Go to Start\Programs\Administrative Tools and select Services
2. Look for 'Safserver', right-click on it and select Start.
