Error: "Your Digital ID Name Can not be Found by the Underlying security system"
Description:
This describes an error if you try to open an encrypted message before your email profile is setup
Product:
NetSign CAC
Version:
4.x
Issue / Problem:
If you try to open an encrypted message and your email profile has not been established, you will get this message since your email application is looking for the associated private key for that particular message.
Solution:
Once you have selected your default email application and you attempt to open an encrypted email you will be prompted for your User PIN.
Note 1: If you have previously installed other CAC Middleware such as ActivCard, make that the ActivCard CSP pointer is not in the registry at: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Calais\Smart Cards. Also, if you have more than one profile set up, make sure you are using the appropriate profile for that incoming message.
Note 2: When you set up your policy using "Iniwizard" and you want to use Outlook to "Autoregister Certificates with Outlook", make sure that:
1. "Autoregister certificates for IE" is selected OR
2. The user manually registers the certs with the card inserted via "CardStart" (right click on the smart card reader in the task bar and click "Register IE Card".
